Today is the day.
Here at The Creativity Rebel, we practice cranky creativity. Let’s see if this approach applies to you:
You’d like thirty damn minutes in a quiet well-lit space with music of your choice,
Along with those snacks you’ve been hiding under the vacuum cleaner bags and a glass of something you don’t have to explain,
You need to spend some quality time alone with your art supplies. Art supplies that are in danger of petitioning the court to be moved to foster care for abandonment.
In a perfect world, all the little ducklings would be in rows, the dust bunnies would be nibbling on spiderwebs, and nobody would be calling your name unless it was to collect your lottery winnings.
Until now your art has had to wait.
It’s time to tell waiting: Oh hell no!
Until I get it perfect: Oh hell no!
Until I feel like a real artist/writer/creative: Oh hell no!
It’s time to get started where you are: Oh hell yeah!
Not care if it’s perfect: It’s mine. Oh hell yeah!
Not care about anybody else’s opinion, but mine. Oh hell yeah!
Today you are practicing cranky creativity. If something gets in your way, it’s Oh hell no!
If you spend ten minutes doodling. If you write two sentences. If you just use up some of those precious art supplies that have been falling through the cracks of not making, it’s Oh hell yeah!
Because if we don’t create, we get cranky. You get cranky.
Today is where Oh hell no! meets Oh hell yeah!
So get cranking.
