Meet Blockhead (a love letter to anyone tangled up with their inner critic)
You know that voice.
The one that hisses, “You’re not ready,” or “This has been done better,” or “Why even try?”
Yeah. That one.
I call mine Blockhead.
Blockhead shows up when I sit down to make something—especially if it matters to me.
It’s the voice of doubt, comparison, old wounds, and leftover shame stirred into one noisy peanut gallery in my brain.
And Blockhead?
Blockhead is a liar.
A persistent, clever, exhausting liar.
But here’s the thing: when I name it, I can talk back. Blockheads are cunning enough to win every argument, but if you just notice them, acknowledge what they said and move on with compassion for yourself, you can come out of a blistering session with Blockhead with only minor burns.
That’s why I made this zine.
It’s a scrappy little act of rebellion against that voice that tries to keep us small, stuck, and silent.
It’s got a place to name your inner critic, sketch their ridiculous face, record their greatest hits—and then, most importantly, talk back with your own rebel truths.
This is a reminder:
You’re not broken.
You’re not alone.
And you are definitely not the voice in your head that’s always tearing you down.

I’m building a Community Blockhead Gallery where we can share our ridiculous, messy, powerful pages.
Because inner critics lose power when they’re seen.
And creative rebels are stronger together.

🖤 One last thing...
Some of us have a very loud Blockhead.
This work can bring up big feelings—shame, grief, old stories.
Being gentle and compassionate with yourself is the antidote to Blockhead. Take breaks. Laugh when you can.
And remember: that voice is not the truth of you.
You are a creative rebel.
And you’ve got things to make.
